Conversion tracking on BookingZone

BookingZone is a platform where a working setup can be diagnosed as broken because headless verification may not see it.

Where the click dies

Below, the same booking runs twice. The upper lane is a real browser. The lower lane is the automated check that gets asked whether tracking works.

Where it dies

Nothing dies on the upper lane. The click completes and every event fires. What dies is the verdict: the automated check finds no loader in the rendered DOM and reports working tracking as dead, while a real browser session on the same booking shows everything firing. The accusation that follows lands on a vendor who did the job correctly.

What breaks

Diagnosed first-hand on a live account, not read off vendor documentation.

Headless verification reported the Meta pixel and, separately, the canonical GTM loader as absent. In a real browser, Tag Explorer found both working. Campaign source can still be replaced by a self-referral on the move from the venue site into BookingZone unless cross-domain is configured deliberately.

Why nobody catches it

This one does not survive quietly. It gets escalated. Somebody runs an automated audit, reports the tracking as missing, and a vendor gets an accusation about something that already works. Two of those inside two weeks is what taught us to stop trusting the automated read on this platform specifically.

The work

A verification record that states which method was used for each check, because on this platform the method changes the answer.

  1. 01Verify in a real browser session before diagnosing anything, because the automated read is unreliable here specifically
  2. 02Configure cross-domain so the original campaign survives the move from the venue site into BookingZone
  3. 03Separate what the platform sends natively from what the container should send
  4. 04Confirm the booking type reaches reporting, so birthday and ticket revenue can be told apart

For agencies and operators

Bring a BookingZone booking flow and we will read its setup before anything is signed.

Agencies keep the client relationship. Operators keep the account ownership. In either arrangement, definitions, configuration and test evidence stay with the people responsible for the work.

Agencies can bring the work in under their own name. Operators can engage directly. The implementation follows the account access and written scope.
